How to Nominate

Complete the nomination form below.

You can nominate in as many or as few categories as you like. You can also nominate multiple different entrants in a category—just nominate each entrant once.

You may nominate yourself, your own cattle or others with permission.

One valid nomination is enough. Extra nominations for the same entrant do not give them an advantage.

Your name and email are required, but remain confidential and will not be published.

Who Is Eligible?

The eligibility period is 1 November 2025 to 30 November 2026.

  • Animals and paraders must have shown in Australia during that period. Youth, country, regional and royal shows all count.

  • Other nominees must have been active in their nominated role during that period.

  • Shows and events must have taken place in Australia during that period.

Each animal can enter one animal category only. People, families and teams may enter more than one category where eligible.

Animal Categories

  • Bull: a bull shown during the eligibility period.

  • Cow: a female that had calved when shown. Cows shown with a calf at foot and dry cows qualify.

  • Heifer: a female that had not yet calved when shown.

  • Calf: a calf shown at foot of its dam.

  • Steer: a steer shown during the eligibility period.

If an animal qualified for different categories during the season, the owner chooses one.

Parader Ages

Age is measured on 30 November 2026.

  • Junior: 25 and under.

  • Open: 26 and over.

Other Awards

  • Fitter / Clipper: anyone who prepared or clipped cattle for a show, including professionals, owners, juniors and school team members.

  • Maintained Team: families, studs, schools and other teams recognised for the presentation and upkeep of their cattle, stalls and display.

  • Show Family: families involved in cattle showing, whether they breed their cattle or exhibit cattle bred by others. This award incorporates Best Breeder.

  • Mentor: anyone who taught, guided or supported others in cattle showing, whether paid or volunteering.

  • Show / Cattle Event: royal, country, regional and youth shows, cattle sections and youth-based cattle events.

  • Show Photographer: anyone who photographed in a professional capacity at a cattle show.

Photos & Permission

You can nominate without uploading a photo.

Owners and nominees can use the separate photo form to supply their preferred image or replace a previously submitted photo.

A suitable, high-quality photo must be received by 11:59 pm Adelaide time on 6 December 2026. Without one, the nominee forfeits their place and cannot appear in voting.

The photo must:

  • Have been taken during the eligibility period.

  • Represent the nominated animal, person, family, team or event.

  • Have the photographer’s permission for use by LOTR.

  • Have permission from the people pictured, including parent or guardian permission where required.

Photos may be used on the LOTR website, voting form, social media, competition promotion and award banners.

For nominees under 18, the young person must agree and their parent or guardian must give permission.

How Voting Works

All eligible nominees with suitable photos enter one public voting round. There is no preliminary round or shortlist.

  • One ballot per person.

  • One choice per category.

  • Vote in as many or as few categories as you like.

  • Nominees can vote for themselves.

  • Overseas friends and supporters can vote.

  • Vote totals stay hidden while voting is open.

Nominees may share the voting link and ask for support. Buying votes or offering rewards in exchange for votes is not allowed.

Duplicate, automated or otherwise invalid votes will not count.

Winners & Supreme Legend

Each category awards:

  • Winner: highest valid vote total.

  • Runner-up: second-highest valid vote total.

Placings depend on enough eligible nominees receiving valid votes.

Supreme Legend of the Ring goes to the nominee with the highest vote total in any single category. Every category is eligible.

Votes received in different categories are not added together. Supreme is based on the total number of votes, not a percentage.

If a tie affects a winner, runner-up or Supreme award, a 48-hour public runoff will be held between the tied nominees.

Winner vote totals will be published with the results. Other nominee totals remain private.

Prizes

Every category winner and runner-up receives:

  • A printed award banner.

  • A matching PDF version.

Supreme Legend also receives:

  • An additional Supreme Legend banner.

  • A matching PDF.

  • A custom YETI trophy.

Limitless Show Supplies covers postage for all physical prizes.
